Everyone at our practice is committed to providing you with the very best in dental healthcare. Our dental team bring a wealth of experience to the practice and have individually obtained high standards of professional qualification. We are able through this to offer patients the full range of modern dentistry from routine care through to complex restorative treatment including dental implants to replace missing teeth.

Both Mrs Sharon Till and Mr Damian O'Shea and all staff adhere to the rules governing the profession as laid down in the GDC guidance Standards for Dental Professionals.

Mrs Sharon Till: Dental Surgeon (Female); BDS, FDS RCPS; GDC registration number: 66002; Sharon Till graduated in dentistry at the University of Manchester in the United Kingdom in 1990. After qualification she worked in the hospital service for a number of years obtaining experience in a range of specialties. She obtained the Fellowship in Dental Surgery from the Royal College of Surgeons in Glasgow in 1994 after a series of examinations. Since 1994 she has worked in dental practice. She has an interest in restorative and cosmetic dentistry as well as surgical dentistry. She is a Full Member of the British Academy of Cosmetic Dentistry. Sharon also offers intravenous sedation as one way of helping nervous patients to access dental treatment. Sharon is a member of the Society for the Advancement of Anaesthesia in Dentistry and the Association of Dental Anaesthetists. Sharon is committed to ongoing postgraduate education as a means of delivering the highest standard of care and latest techniques to her patients. Sharon's time away from the practice is mainly spent looking after her twin daughters. She also enjoys visiting the gym and particularly enjoys yoga.

Mr Damian O'Shea: Specialist in Oral Surgery/ Dental Surgeon (Male); BDS, FDS RCPS, M.Med.Sci (Dental Implantology); GDC registration number: 65988; Damian O'Shea qualified in dentistry at the University of Manchester in the United Kingdom in 1990. Initially he worked in both the dental and general hospital service obtaining a wide range of experience. In 1994 he achieved the Fellowship in Dental Surgery from the Royal College of Surgeons and Physicians of Glasgow by examination. Since 1994 he has worked in general dental practice.

He is on the Oral Surgery specialist list of the General Dental Council. He has an interest in dental implants, restorative and cosmetic dentistry. He has undergone extensive postgraduate training and education in restorative and implant dentistry. In 2006 he completed his Masters degree in Dental Implantology at Sheffield University. He is on the Association of Dental Implantolgy list of mentors.

Damian offers intravenous sedation as one way of helping nervous patients to access dental treatment.

He is a member of the British Dental Association, the British Association of Oral Surgeons, the Association of Dental Implantology, the European Association for Osseointegration, the International Team for Implantology, the Faculty of General Dental Practitioners (UK) at the Royal College of Surgeons of England, the Society for the Advancement of Anaesthesia in Dentistry and the Association of Dental Anaesthetists.

Outside of work Damian enjoys cycling, the gym and going to the cinema.

Mrs Samantha Carrington: Dental Therapist and Hygienist; BSc Oral Health Sciences UK; GDC registration number: 103107; Samantha Carrington graduated from the University of Manchester in 2006 with a BSc in Oral Health Science. She works as a dental therapist and hygienist. Samantha was awarded the prize for professionalism from the University which she received from the General Dental Council in October 2006. She is a member of the British Society of Dental Hygiene and Therapy (BSDHT) and the British Association of Dental Therapists (BADT). Samantha is committed to keeping updated in dentistry, enabling her to be knowledgable in the best treatments and has enrolled on a course that allows her to carry out the various whitening procedures available.

Miss Laura Hodgetts: Dental Therapist and Hygienist; BSc Oral Health Sciences UK; GDC registration number: 114236; Miss Laura Hodgetts graduated as a dental therapist from the University of Manchester in June 2007. Her BSc Honours degree in Oral Health Science allows her to carry out the duties of a dental hygienist as well as additional skills such as fillings and treatment of children. Laura is a member of both the British Society of Dental Hygiene and Therapy (BSDHT) and British Association of Dental Therapists (BADT). She regularly attends seminars and conferences to further her professional and academic development. In her spare time Laura's hobbies include cooking, dancing and music. She is also interested in experiencing new cultures and enjoys travelling.

Miss Kirsty Nicholson: Dental Therapist and Hygienist; Combined Diploma in Dental Therapy and Hygiene; GDC registration number: 118605; Kirsty graduated as a dental hygienist and therapist from the University of Liverpool in Decemeber 2010. Since qualifying she has been continuing her professional development as required by the General Dental Council attending conferences and seminars to update and develop her knowledge and so provide the highest standards of dental care for her patients. She is a member of both the British Association of Dental Therapists (BADT) and the British Society of Dental Hygiene and Therapy. Kirsty's hobbies include keeping fit, skiing and travelling.

Mrs Lisa Davies: Senior Receptionist and Dental Nurse; National Certificate NEBDN UK; GDC registration number: 121554; Lisa is a qualified and registered dental nurse who has worked at Church Road Dental Practice for 10 years. Her role as Senior Receptionist includes the smooth running of the administrative side of the practice. When not working her time is taken up looking after her two children.

Miss Laura Gavin: Senior Dental Nurse; NVQ Level 3 Dental Nursing; GDC registration number: 137476; Laura is a qualified and registered dental nurse. Her role as Senior Dental Nurse includes ensuring the smooth running of the clinical aspects of the practice. Her hobbies are shopping, eating out and jogging. She also loves to watch films.

Miss Rachel Mason: Registered Dental Nurse; GDC registration number: 209218; Rachel is a registered dental nurse. Her hobbies are listening to music, shopping and going out with friends.

Mrs Janet Jessop: Dental Receptionist; Janet is a receptionist at the practice. She has quickly become a valued member of the team. Her interests outside work include gardening, swimming and travel.

Miss Melissa Burgess: Trainee Dental Nurse; Melissa has joined the practice and is working towards her qualification to become a registered dental nurse. Outside of work she enjoys socializing and going to the cinema.
